The on-going more than 300 Focus Group Discussions across Mindanao and other places spearheaded by the Bishop Ulama Conference (BUC) have crafted a merged reactions from the Bangsamoro people being a government sponsored program as its “paradigm shift” from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) negotiations to a new strategy by consulting the communities itself about the resolution of the Moro problem making use of the BUC as its front.
1. That the BUC is being used by the government as an instrument in evading its obligation with the MILF on the initialed MOA-AD which the MILF viewed as a done deal agreement; 2. That the FGDs is funded by the government (OPAPP) and therefore with biases against the Bangsamoro struggle, for their right to self determination, as a nation; 3. That results of these FGDs is a non enforceable to the MILF; 4. That these FGDss is a counter insurgency strategy of the government never a solution to the Bangsamoro problem; 5. That the Peace negotiation is between GRP and MILF not BUC-MILF issue; 6. That any strategy made by the government without the consensus of the MILF with result to unbearable disaster in the region; 7. That no amount of consultations will do while on-going indiscriminate firings are being inflicted against civilians by the AFP in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and Lanao del Norte. Bangsamoro reactors further stressed that only Compromised Political Settlement (CPS) could resolve the decades Bangsamoro problem that resulted the lost of more than 120,000 precious lives and destruction of billions of pesos worth of properties. They are hoping that President Arroyo could finally leave a legacy that will always be remembered by the Bangsamoro people in their quest for a genuine autonomy in the Bangsamoro homeland.
