Marawi City, Philippines—Shiekh Abdullah Al-Nouri based in Kuwait offers Iftars to identified recipients among Muslim women in Marawi City .
Rabitatu Nissah Al-Khairiyah, one of the leading organization of Muslim woman sector based in Marawi City, managed the distribution of the Iftars (i.e., rice, sugar, milk, maggie and sardines) provided by Abdullah Al-Nouri based in Kuwait worth of P300 for each recipient for the total of 75 identified Muslim women in Marawi City. The distribution was held yesterday starting at 2:00 pm and ended at 3:30 pm, September 9, 2008 at Sahara Function Hall in Marawi City. Among the members of the said organization who were present and have assisted in the distribution of Iftars are: Jamilah Panda;, Norania Sarangani, Samia Abdulcarim, Noraida Bagul, Aida Mutia, Norania Mama and Salma Ahmad Umbaya It was learned by the field reporter of the Lanao Association of Media Practitioners (LAMP) that Al-Nouri’s Iftars will be distributed by the said organization in identified Masajids in Lanao del Sur during this Holy month of Ramadhan. This coming Wednesday September 10, the organization will distribute in certain Masjid in Uyaan, Madamba and in Masjid Raya Madaya in Marawi City in the following day Thursday September 11. On Friday September 12, the group is expected to distribute other Al-Nouri’s Iftar in certain Masjid in Domalondong town, also in Lanao del Sur In his late 50s, Nouri is an engineer and a veteran planner, having started his career in the 1950s. He helped found Petrochemical Industries Company in the 1960s and later became its Board Chairman, a position he has retained until now. Originally one of the leading merchant families of Kuwait, the Al Nouris have since the 1960s moved into the financial world. They remain quite wealthy and are shareholders in several major companies. Anwar Al Nouri, for example, has been the Chairman and Managing Director of the Industrial Bank of Kuwait. Mahmoud Al Nouri is a founding shareholder. Jamilah Panda, Acting President of the Rabitatu Nissa Al-Khairiah, revealed that the conduct of this religious services in every Ramadhan can be attributed much to the work has been rendered by Ommo Arif Sarangani, President of this organization, who is now residing in Kuwait. The recipients expressed their thanks and gratitude to Abdullah Al-Nouri and asked Allah to give him more blessings in this world and in the Hereafter.
