Re-examine the Facts

This is a reply to the article entitled "A Reason Why Maranaw Dream Of Muslim" posted in ranaw.com website. 
 
It's January 22, 2008, a day after the turn-over of MSU leadership from Dr. RDL to Dr. Mac Muslim and up to this day, I cannot understand why some people have a tendency to be so bitter and cruel about the Standardization Policy.  
 
First, it is not RDL's policy, it is the "long-forgotten-and-now-implemented-by-RDL" university's policy, a STATE UNIVERSITY's policy. So it is very wrong to say that "[e]verything we ponder turns into nightmare, when President de Leon reigned in power, followed by the Standardization Policy." To be admitted into a state university like MSU is not a matter of "palakasan" system. The University is open to ALL (whatever the tribe or financial status) to those deserving students who pass the institution's standard -- meaning the SASE (System Admission and Scholarship Exam). RDL only implemented or executed what should have been implemented or executed before.  
 
This boils down to the second argument which is: the admission or scholarship in MSU has NOTHING to do with one's financial status. To quote in the article "the Maranaw belong to the lower income level." Oh please, mga pagari aken, the MSU Standardization Policy doesn't discriminate the Maranaws because we belong to the lower income level. Why do some people really find fancy in twisting facts from myths? The painful truth that we have to admit is that some (not only Maranaws but also those coming from other tribes) are not admitted because they fail the SASE. Yes, the SASE. Besides, there is a College Bound Program (CBP) for Muslims and indigenous tribes intended to give those who did not get a scholarship or those who fail a chance to be given a scholarship or a conditional admission.  
 
Lastly, the appeal is ironic. If the financial status is the problem, then the issue should have been the tuition fee. Pero hindi eh, what is being regarded as the problem is the Standardization Policy. Lower income level does not directly, actually or constructively relate with the Standardization Policy. The former may affect one's stay in MSU but not in entering the institution. The latter affects one's admission in MSU but is focuses on the mental capability and not on the financial capacity. 
 
To those who still cling on to this fallacy, I believe it would be better to re-examine the facts. RDL's term is over. The man did a very good job (not perfect but exceptional) and he doesn't deserve any last minute criticisms. So please have an open mind to accept that he did his job fair and square. And if he implemented what should have been implemented before, this was because he loveS MSU so much. He wanted to improve the quality of education in MSU.  
 
If you love MSU, why don't you encourage the aspiring MSU scholars or students to study hard in order for them to make it in the SASE? Do MSU a favor. Stop entertaining and spreading the idea of "palakasan" or "pro-Maranaws." Campaign instead for pro-MSU. 
 
There are many legitimate ways to enter MSU. Entering MSU is just one thing, staying in MSU is another. If they didn't make it in the academic scholarship programs and they wanted to get a monthly allowance, they may join Darangen, Sining Kambayoka, MSU Varsity, etc. The university provides many privileges but at the end of the day, everything boils down on how well they perform (never on how much they have in their pocket).  
 
I pray that RDL's efforts will not be put to waste. 
 
This is a challenge for all.

until the last line of my article, it did not hurt others ego. It did not even touch palakasan as the key to MSU academic system nor thus it appeal to campaign any unjust management. Standardization Policy cannot be a product of one person. It is done by majority of the board. It implies that RDL is not to be blame nor any body in the campus. A special mention of the policy is a generalization. Not a fault to standardize, its a sign of progress with regards to this University. Three years before, a score of 50 in the SASE can enjoy the college bound project, but recently, the same score was denied. That is why we appeal because some students had enjoyed the same previously. 
My brother here perhaps misquote me. An appeal cannot judge any administration in this regard, its the policy. For this reason, Im sorry, we didnt mean it to be as you understand. We are a peace loving people who consider cruelty out of our vocabulary. 
Why feel so cruel with a person who lead hands on progress.Our interest was to allow student concerned enjoy what we had before. We are poor, and the same university equipped me to become a better person. 
Furthermore, we have special mention on Maranaw because they are the same who appeal before and not any other tribe. Perhaps, the other tribes  
has enough talent to compete and that  
students who appeal were the opposite. . Its not our intention to be threated in the other way that discriminate the others. 
We hope to be understood by our fellow readers. This site is not the place to hurt once feeling, and so we are. We cannot waste any effort as the building exist while flowers are blooming done by RDL.We invite our brothers to write us instead in our  
email ad so that we can be better understood.

Re-examine the Facts

I agree with you shynab. Don't mind those who can afford and trained well in the grade and high school levels, unlike our poor moro and lumad brothers forgotten by the educational system. MSU must educate and train filipinos, yes, but more importantly, us, moros and lumads who lag behind the majority, not on our own making. Brilliant but selfish individuals can study in UP, Ateneo, La Salle and other prime schools in the land. They should not deprive our children their right to education. PERIOD.
